Wish Recipient - Sarah & Family
Dear Glee,
Rodeo weekend was one of the most exciting times for Sarah in recent memory, all because of the wonderful experiences that came with her selection as a 2008 Children’s Western Wish Foundation recipient. The events that she attended, the gifts that she received, and especially the wonderful persons that she met – these have become highlights of her life that she will always treasure, and which she frequently recounts to friends and family.
Sarah has always been special to her family, for we are continually mindful of the presence of God in her life. He has made evident His love in her innocence and unaffected joy, and we cannot help but be positively influenced by her particular place as his emissary to our family. Now, through CWWF, Sarah has been reminded that she is special to others, as well.
From the moment that her boots, shirts, and other items began to arrive, Sarah knew that she was going to be the focus of something wonderful. The first time she wore the boots for us, she dutifully demonstrated how the lights flashed on the rhinestones when she took a step. There were flashes of light, too, from her smile.
Although Sarah is, at least initially, shy with new acquaintances, she delights in attention. Eventually, everyone she met during rodeo weekend was adopted into her circle of beloved friends. High points in this respect include the time she spent with you, Glee, her attendance with so many good folks at the special breakfast, and the many photographs that were taken of her with the lovely royalty and great rodeo participants.
Now, each time Sarah wears something from her time as CWWF recipient – or shows to her school chums all the autographs that she obtained on her hats – or looks at the many pictures of her and her rodeo-weekend friends, she will again feel in her heart the warmth of this very special time in her life. Children’s Western Wish Foundation was truly a blessing to Sarah (and through her a blessing to us). Glee, we can never express adequately our gratitude to you and to the foundation. It is our prayer that Sarah’s joy in the event will prove to have been a blessing to others, as well, and we wish you the very best in the continuation of this program.
